What is a doula?

A birth doula is someone who provides continuous emotional support, physical comfort, information and guidance during childbirth. A doula is not a medical provider and cannot offer clinical advice.

How will you support me?

There are many ways that I can offer my support! I can assist with providing requested education surrounding pregnancy and birth, birth planning, comfort measures during labor, optimal fetal positioning, provide aromatherapy, massage, photography and more.

Support I provide is very personalized to you and your family. Every birth experience is unique and requires individualized support and attention.

What if I want an epidural?

That's great! You can have an epidural and the support of a doula as part of your birth plan. Your pain management choices don't replace or diminish the support a doula can provide to you.

How will you support my partner/support person?

I can support your partner by offering guidance and encouragement. Also, labor can last for quite some time. Your partner may need to take care of their basic human needs. Having a doula ensures that you are supported through every snack break, nap and bathroom break. Your partner will be able to support you best when they are also being supported.

When should I hire a doula?

You can hire a doula at any point during your pregnancy. It's often recommended you start searching by your second trimester and have one secured at the beginning of your third trimester.

Will my insurance cover a doula?

It's possible. I would suggest calling the number on the back of your insurance card to contact customer service for assistance.

Yes, if you have MI Medicaid. I am in the process of being credentialed with Medicaid plans! This is required for me to be able to accept your insurance plan. As I become credentialed I will add the information to my website regarding which plans I can accept. You can also reach out to me if you have questions!

Why should I hire you?

I am very passionate about birth. I believe that childbirth is a very powerful and important experience. It can be a very empowering and positive. It can "set the tone" for how you enter into motherhood as a new mom. It can help to provide a positive start to your postpartum experience and journey with your new baby. I would be honored to help you achieve the birth experience of your dreams.

I have attended and successfully completed the 21-hour DONA International Approved Birth Doula Workshop and am working towards certification.

How do I hire you?

Contact me via whichever method you prefer. We will schedule a meeting (in-person is preferred, however, I am open to virtual meetings as well if that works best for you). This will give you the opportunity to meet and interview me to see if I'm the best doula for you.
